Workshop:  8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Luncheon:  11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Those of us in both the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors struggle with the notion of impact - how to understand, define and measure it.  Good, ongoing evaluation practice is the place to start.

This three-hour session for both funders and nonprofits will offer tips and tools useful for learning about and articulating your impact and will provide the rare opportunity for both groups to grapple together with this difficult topic, examining the role that each can play in evaluating impact.  Participants will become better acquainted with common evaluation terms and concepts and will leave with some new ideas for, and approaches to, evaluating their impact in order to learn from, and validate, the work that they do.

Susannah Quern Pratt, Principal, The Pratt Richards Group, is a consultant working in the area of program evaluation.  Her work equips foundations and nonprofit organizations with fresh ideas, tools, and strategies to help them articulate their vision for change and understand their role in creating social impact.  Her philanthropic clients have ranged from small family foundations to the Lilly Endowment, Inc., and her nonprofit clients include organizations working in the areas of human services, art, education, and health care.  She is an instructor in the area of evaluation for the Association of Small Foundations and the Donors Forum.

In addition to this work, Susannah coordinates the programs in philanthropy for the Project on Civic Reflection and, in this role, works with leaders of philanthropic and nonprofit organizations to explore the purpose of their civic activity.  Her own civic activity includes serving on the board of a small family foundation and on the board of a local community development organization.

This meeting has been approved by CFRE International for 3 hours of CEUs.  Click here for more information.
